Vox Rea

  • Junction Park 37950 Cleveland Avenue Squamish, BC, V8B 0S8 Canada (map)

Vox Rea, the Canadian indie-pop collective fronted by sisters Kate and Lauren Kurdyak, crafts cinematic, introspective soundscapes that blur the lines between poetry and philosophy. Blending Laurel Canyon harmonies with dreamlike synth textures and the haunting intensity of artists like Lana Del Rey and Jeff Buckley, their music is both intellectually rich and emotionally raw. Since their 2020 debut single “Dose Me Up,” Vox Rea has amassed over 1M Spotify streams, earned placements on New Music Friday Canada and Indie Pop, and received airplay from BBC Radio 6, CBC, and stations across Canada. Their music has also appeared in Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias and Orphan Black, while “Damn (Unstuck)” topped Folk & Friends and was named one of Spotify’s Top Folk Songs of 2021.

Their sophomore album, Art Oracles, recorded in a cabin on southern Vancouver Island, explores fate, freedom, emotional catharsis, and the art of letting go. Inspired by the beauty of the West Coast, the album weaves natural imagery and existential longing through the sisters’ intricate vocal harmonies—Kate’s smoky alto alongside Lauren’s willowy soprano. Renowned for their captivating live performances, Vox Rea has toured across North America, the UK, and Europe, appearing at festivals including The Great Escape, SXSW, Reeperbahn, and Treefort Music Fest. With a growing global following, the sisters continue to mesmerize audiences with their profound sound and emotive presence.
